applied April 25th, 2006 during just in time career fair, phone interviewed for 20 minutes on May 24th (May 20th was graduation). On-site interview at south of San Jose on May 26th, interviewed by 5 people over 2 and a half hour. Only dennis was being interviewed that day. Job function includes characterization of FPGA boards, may do layout later on with Cadence Virtuoso. Have used verilog for the job so far, and all the CS 150 softwares, and went into labs to measure stuff. Recommended to know Perl for the job.

  • On-Campus Recruting Interview (OCR) interview at UC Berkeley for International Rectifier during Spring 2004, 10 people being interviewed
  • On site interview, at a place near LA, near the end of March 2004. There was only one day of interviewing, and 10-20 people were interviewed, 5 people were employed. Among those 5, at least 2 people were international students (including Chris). Probably Chris is the only International student hired with only a Bachelor Degree that year.
  • International Rectifier makes Power Devices, Rectifier, Power MOS, IGBP (BJT-like stuff)
  • Chris, Rotational Engineer, makes driver for AC/DC motor
  • Receive a degree certification that is needed for H-1B application in August 2004, while he accepted the offer near the end of April 2004
  • When applying for H-1B in August, he was told by the company lawyer the application quota for H-1B was gone.

  • Has friends who were late to apply for H-1 for 1 day, and didn't get H-1. His friend went back to China for half a year, then come back. The company gave his friend his position back after half a year.

    Saw the offer on the career fair website. Applied at the end of April. Got an on-site interview right in a couple day.  2 interviewed him, a group director and a member. Supposed to have 4 ppl interviewing him, but 2 other people were being interviewed that day, so only 2 interviewers. Application Engineer, works for Dual Port RAM group, then switch to the Network Search Group.
  • Got the interview through Caljob.

  • Internship for Giga-tronics for 3 months, got the offer on 19 Mar 2005, located in San Ramon. Training starting in June 2005.

  • Got Gigatronics internship through On Campus recruiting (OCR). OCR on Feb 8th, On-site interview at San Ramon on Mar 4th at 10am. Took 2 hours and so to go from Berkeley to San Ramon.
  • Giga-tronics was not in the Career Fair.
  • First round OCR has about 20 people to be interviewed, second round on-site has 3 people being interviewed that Friday (Mar 4th). The on-site interview has at least be run for 3 days. Got phone internship offer on Mar 8th
  • Got 5 interviews in Fall 2004, all through OCR. Got 10 interviews in Spring 2005, 6 through OCR, 2 through Caljob, 2 through info session.
