The poem "peace" is a poem written out of broken thoughts. The poem is more like a flow of mind rather than some well-structured sentences.

Obviously the poem expressed its concern of war and peace. The poem mentioned everyday elements like "tree" and "road"(445), and it also touched the idea of "Christ", "mankind, and "crown of thorns"(445). Those represent religious believe, society, and power.

Later in the poem, most of the sentences start from the word "too many". This suggested the unpleasant or even indignant emotion the poem is trying to convey.

"too little peace" (446) these three words expressed the main idea of the poem - war and peace.

In response to Heike, I think we have to talk about war when we think of peace. This is just like we must use black when we want to paint a white object, or there will be no shadow and no shape.

The last three words of the poem shaped the whole idea of the poem, "too little peace" (446). There will always be too little peace, and the ideal world of no war has never existed. The truely peaceful world may probably never happen in human race.
