Pacific Crossing suggested the cultural differences in dinning habits. The poem might reflect an hidden meaning that Filipino workers would work for the crab, and the crab would ended up in an European's plate.

Rembrandt was an excellent realistic artists from Holland from what I remember. The kid that was invited to a filipino family probably had an European features.

This poem suggested a cultural different in dinning habit, and this poem did bring up quite a few memories of my classmates. Some of my classmates considered this as a interesting difference of another culture.

   I like the way to eat crab as described in the poem. Bear hands are convient really. Besides, "San Francisco Bay" like a "father's arm around a daughter" (402) is an interesting picture that I have never thought about.
I think it's the European culture to be obsessed with table manner. My American friends simply doesn't care.
